Aubrey DeGrey

Biomedical gerontologist and Chief Science Officer of SENS Research Foundation, Aubrey de Grey is reshaping aging research with his vision that humans alive today could live for 1,000 years. His Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence (SENS) approach treats aging as an engineering problem with seven types of cellular damage that can be repaired or prevented. Author of The Mitochondrial Free Radical Theory of Aging and co-author of Ending Aging, Aubrey holds a PhD from Cambridge and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Rejuvenation Research. A TED speaker, he advocates for rejuvenation biotechnology to extend healthy human lifespan indefinitely. Note: In 2021, he was removed from SENS following independent investigation.

A roadmap to end aging

Aubrey argues that aging is merely a disease, and a curable one. Humans age in seven basic ways, he says, and all of them can be averted. He sets out the reasoning behind SENS, his roadmap for repairing the damage of biological aging, and why it is worth preparing now for advances that may still be a decade or two away.
