With five years as Senior Director at Scale AI, Canada's national AI investment fund, I have worked closely with government and industry to advance AI adoption and innovation. Canada consistently ranks among the top AI nations, punching above its weight on the global stage, and I have been at the forefront of understanding what drives this success. In that role I also coauthored the published report “AI at Scale”, a comparative analysis of AI ecosystems across major countries that identifies the key strategies nations can use to win in the AI age. Beyond Canada, I serve as AI policy and legislative lead and board member at the International Trade Council, where I lead research on national AI policies and advise policymakers on fostering ethical and effective AI adoption. This blend of practical investment experience, global policy research and strategic advising has given me a deep understanding of how countries can craft effective policies and build strong ecosystems to harness the full economic potential of AI.

Over almost a decade with the Boston Consulting Group and Scale AI, Canada's AI investment fund, I have worked closely with business leaders across industries to plan and implement AI transformations. As a member of the editorial board of The Journal of Business and Artificial Intelligence, I contribute to the leading publication at the intersection of AI and business, focused on case studies of AI adoption in practice. Leveraging this experience, I compiled what I call the “AI Playbook for Business Leaders”, a strategic guide that helps executives navigate AI adoption, from crafting an AI strategy through to implementing and scaling AI across their organizations. I have shared this playbook at several major conferences, including ALL IN Montreal, Big Data and Analytics Summit Canada, and the Toronto Machine Learning Summit, providing business leaders with a practical roadmap to succeed in the AI age.

Five years as Senior Director at Scale AI, Canada's national AI investment fund, have given me a unique perspective on how workers can prepare for the AI age. Scale AI does not only invest in AI companies but also in workers, through our workforce upskilling programs. At the same time, we also need policy measures to manage the impact of AI on the labor market. At the Harvard Kennedy School, I researched and published concrete recommendations for governments on topics such as employee ownership as a way to include workers in the productivity gains that AI creates. Drawing on my experience in managing workforce upskilling programs and on my policy research, I provide a comprehensive perspective on how both workers and governments can navigate the future of work in the age of AI.
